His name Lou comes from shortening 'Lulubelle', because Bart at first incorrectly assumed he was female and not male.It is then arranged by Apu that Lou will go to India where he will be treated well (better than humans), like all cows there. When Lou is trapped, ready to be slaughtered, Bart, along with some of Lisa's friends, breaks Lou out, carrying him on a forklift truck, this due to the extra hormones fed to him making him twice his original size. It was written by Jeff Westbrook and directed by Nancy Kruse. Her father, Cletus, mistakenly believes it as a token for Mary's hand in marriage, and attempts to get the two married. After joining 4-H, Bart saves a cow named Lou and gives it to a girl named Mary, a farm girl. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on April 27, 2008.
